Cranes are a traditional Japanese mystical creature and are used as a symbol for good luck - the tradition is if you fold 1000 your wish will come true.
(I don't believe I'll be attempting to make all 1000. Normally they are arranged in 25 strings of 40 cranes - I might just try for 250 cranes?)
Each of the paper cranes will be made out of a found material:
1. water bottle labels
2. newspaper/magazine pages
3. shopping bags
4. cereal boxes
5. sheet protectors
6. fabric
7. aluminum foil
8. pages from novels/manga/comics
9. paper towels
10. tracing paper
Since Senbazuru is considered more of a traditional craft in Japan, what you decide to use for materials is really important in introducing a critical content that's not normally associated with Senbazuru. Since you're thinking about recycling materials, maybe it should be associated it the idea of sustainability?
