My most recent project was a contemporary functioning 'body double' of a large wall folding fan.
I used newspaper and magazine clippings to imitate the fabric or paper traditionally used. In order to be sure it would not rip when folding/unfolding the fan - I reinforced the material with thread. Wooden slats would be connected at the bottom with safety pins.
My project's unveiling included a demonstration [IT WAS AWESOME] in its functionality - both mechanically in its folding and unfolding but also in its ability to perform the task that all fans are made to do - cool oneself off in the heat.
How's it going with the papers? Are they folding?
ReplyDeleteHere is an example of the kind of transfers Nori was talking about in class last time.
